Living on a farm
5:15am..
Woke up this morning, sun coming up over the mountain,
going to be a beautiful day here in Tennessee.
My 1st. thoughts were I need to work on my October venue for the craft festivals.
Baskets sitting around with notes,
half finished projects that have to be finished on time.
Time to sit out on the porch and plan my day.
Coffee and Watch the morning come to life.
Living on a farm is not easy,
it is serene quiet beautiful land,
but that being said, hard work comes with the land.
This morning my organic tomatoes need to be set out,
the gourds need to be strung on the fence row.
Need to add stakes to my glads they are so heavy with blooms that are falling over.
Small things "I can do this",then you look and see the grass needs to be cut,
that will wait till tomorrow.
But I have found that if you put off one thing off for tomorrow, you will never get ahead.
Yesterday I started Old John Deere thought I would mow a little, while hubby worked late.
Going along smoothly POW a belt broke, I usually carry my cell phone,
just in case i need MY MAN to come to my rescue.
No cell phone, had to walk a mile,"IT did seem like a mile." smile~
Off to the tractor supply, that is a few hours out of the day.
While I was there they had baby chicks under heat lights in old alum tubs.
I wanted to take them all home
No can do..too many wild critters here.
The farm store smelled of hay, feed and farmers
Belt in hand home bound, stopped off at Wal Greens get some BEN GAY .I know I am going to need it.
Left the belt with hubby to put on. Thought I will plant a few morning glories
while waiting for Old John Deere,
Sit down with my digger, AW nice, moved a fence row section. off fell a brick I had sat there
BAM on my hand..
Pretty bad cut and bruise..nothing that is serious, BUT ugly.
In the house for first aid kit.
All done,
Back to work.
Another Day In Paradise................smile~
Ok beautiful day,so Let's Rock & Roll~
Have a good one ya'll

Book in the Attic
Cold day so I decided to go through a few old boxes in the attic..
boxes that were in LaMarr's grandmothers attic, we just moved to our attic and forgot them over the years.
So I found a quilt to sit on and started to browse.
Dusty old things is a passion of mine.
Old letters I love sit and read. the fancy script amazes me.
Wish I could use a quill and ink~ now back to the books,
I opened and browsed read a bit, then I picked up a Rudyard Kipling old leather bound book
1892,
I carefully opened the delicate pages.
Something fell in my lap, a pressed four leaf cover.
so I started to replace it back in the page and saw their was another one pressed there.
Now I smile and ask myself wonder how many years that has been pressed between those page and by whom?
Then I read the page "The Legend Of Evil"
as I read i felt a chill creep up my back...
I ran so fast out of that attic and locked the door.
Now I am all about loving history, but something about this book is just not setting too good with me
When LaMarr, came in I read him the passage. "He said where in this world did you get that"?
I said, "From your dead great grandpaws books.
All I can say is ."I will open those boxes in the family room with all the lights on.
Think I am fooling you. Read a passage in the book...

Hand Made with Love~A "Keepsake"....
Hand Made with Love~,,,A "Keepsake"....I have many hand made quilts
My mother, grand mother and I quilt..and I cannot even imagine someone giving a quilt away
Hand it down to someone in the family...these are treasures--so much work.love and time is put into a quilt.
That being said-I found these wonderful quilts in a lil junkin shop in Ringgold Ga today~
Someone spent a great deal of time on these quilts..7 stitches per inch..good batting, great old domestic fabric on back~
As I picked up the quilt, I thought..I would love to know the story behind these old quilts..SAD~
But I added these to my buggy and was very grateful I found them

Grandmothers Old Crochet dolly~~
Grandmothers Old Crochet dolly~~Granny would starch these sweet crochet pieces so stiff---all her doilies would be set in a heavy blue starch over night--then set out in the sun to stiffen.
These old things holds some great memories --you thought forgotten until it is sat in front of you
Then feeling the treasure brings back days long forgotten in the mind~

Echoes of Time~
The steeple stands so proud
The echoes are still there When I listen very close I hear singing in the choir And preaching was a plenty The Sabbath was its day That old altar was the key Most humbly they did pray Those old weathered boards Oh what stories to be told The congregation was all there And the bell chimes were gold They came from far and near Parked under trees with shade In the dirt where they sat Many wagon tracks were made The mules were so content As they grazed on green grass Slightly peaking their ears When a big Amen was passed Plenty of shouting and rejoicing Still hangs in every crack No memories will ever be lost Nor echoes will it lack Such a big part of history And a grand, old Godly place It touched so many hearts With beauty, dignity and grace That old door is still open Just like it was before Calling, calling to someone Come on in there's still more Listen closely to each sermon There's many left to hear "Amazing Grace" still echoes Through the wooded path so clear © Susie Swanson, 2015 Published in my Book "Echoes Of Time" but the pic is not in it. In this ever changing world wouldn't it be nice to go back to this simple time.. We need God in our hearts more so today than ever before.

I do not know of another state-
Where I would rather be
" Than this great state I'm living in-
And that is Tennessee.
I love the stars dearly-
And there are surely three
That show the Grand Division-
Of my home-land, Tennessee.
Where could you find a meadow-
With grass so vividly green?
Where could you find the mountains-
With such majestic scene?
You will never find so bright a moon-
To shine down from above
You will also see the robin-
The wren, and the turtle dove.
And don't forget the rivers-
Where visitors long to stay.
And many have voice in parting,-
'I'm sure glad I passed this way.'
You will see the cattle grazing-
Beside a cotton field;
And there's the Grand Ole Opry-
And a feeling it's all God's will.
I have lived here all my life-
It's where I'm going to be
Although I've traveled quite a bit,-
I'll still take Tennessee!
Oh, I sure love the state I'm in:
"The great state of Tennessee!"
