Autumn is Whispering~

Autumn is peeking in the door. I have often thought that Autumn as a season of "new Beginings"~ The mountain and hollows are so beautiful in the fall. and seems to welcome the cool weather after the heat from Summer. The mornings are dew drenched, the leaves gently falling, the walnuts are turning a dark brown under the trees, the squirrels gathering the harvest for the coming Winter, a change to the hollow is happening all around.
Shadows behind the ferns appear in Autumn, the fonds turn a rich green, they love the cool morning, All around the changes are taking place, when I feel the season begin to change, I feel the need to soak up every moment that I can, before the cold season begins. Longer walks, opening windows to feel the freshness from outside, and tending to the gardens, gathering seeds for next years bounty. The days of Autumn are whispering...I enjoy every waking moment of this beautiful season.

A Haven for Solitude~

Visit my Vintage Rags Facebook Page
Raining, the smoke on the mountain enclosing the house like spun cotton. A day to spend in my sewing room, in quiet solitude. Going through hatboxes and the ":Memories" hit me, my sons baby shoes, how many years had those little treasures been in that box? I am so glad I thought at the time to put them back in the original box
I can still hear him running through the house and the little bells as he ran. He loved those shoes. Time I gave him a Keepsake from the past, He is old enough now.
Sigh~
On one of my shopping trips I found a trim I just love, I am a button addict, the trim was expensive, but oh so nice, you really have to consider the work into this trim to see why it cost so much
The buttons just POP..in color and the trim has a vintage touch. wish I had purchased more. but that is another day smile~
I found these pretty tattered rose trims, if you have tried to create tattered roses you know it's not easy.or to me its not~
Rose pastel and cream tattered roses.one good thing about this trim it can be cut at each roseette.
Now Binding is another pretty trim I like, all shabby scrunched..another expensive trim "IF" you buy it already tea stained and scrunched..all shabby chic'd out.
Lucked up on 100 yard rolls of binding at a decent price, $$'s in savings.. just roll out what you need..to scrunch add to warm water for a bit, then scrunch with your hands, let dry all scrunched up.Perfect shabby binding trims, Scanned some Vintage cards.. to use as lace.ribbon cards..these are so pretty in a hat box sitting in your sewing room.
I have to have some "trinkets" sitting around my sewing/craft room..gives me inspiration to create.
A woman needs her "private" place. Mine is my sewing room, Today it is raining, the smoke on the mountains, is reminding me Autumn is on the way~ I walk out on my porch and sigh~ another year is passing,..
another Season is on the way~

Vintage Baby Shoe Pin Cushion~

Sweet little baby shoe, recycled into a vintage pin cushion, while on one of my resale/junkin trips, I found a pair of tiny cotton cloth baby shoes, At the time I was thinking, maybe the shoes would fit one of my dolls. I sat the shoes in my sewing room, by chance next to a vintage pin cushion I had made.
I created this pin cushion using a mason jar lid. Fairly simple to create. The baby shoes did not fit any of my dolls.. and I thought I do not want to add them to a drawer hidden away. The ideal of a baby shoe pin cushion came to mind~
I added filler to the botton for stability,
added vintage trims, silk roses, vintage doilies.

The Gold Dipped Rose~

The Gold Dipped Rose~
Candle warmer with a rose scent, pouring down rain, the house cozy, walking around the house, dusting the treasures my sweet hubby has given me over the years..Such treasures of the Heart~ 25 years ago LaMarr picked a Rose~
from our garden, he took the rose to a jewerly store.
The Rose was dipped in gold, the morning I found the Rose and the Vintage Pill Case~wrapped in white tissue paper..with a note~ ~Fragile Handle With Care.
Over the years of our marriage ~ I have always made sure I treated this man~ Fragile with Care~ I was fortunate in life to meet someone I love, respect, and cherish, when we are children we grow up dreaming of "A Knight In Shining Armor~I pray that you have found your Knight~~ I "Know" I have~~ smile~

That Old Flag A Purple Heart and Memories~

Storming today, the mountain is smokey with haze, piddling in the house, cleaning our home office dusting the memories LaMarr has on his shelves. 2 grandfathers and a father served in the war, dusting these treasures makes you feel the presence of these men~ A grandfather that never came home from the war. All that remains is his memory~ The purple heart.
The letters tied with tattered ribbons,
Memories on the dresser, granddads old pocket watch, the glass cracked and worn.
a key that once opened the door to his farm..a silver framed photo of long ago..
it must have been winter, the flower boxes are empty...the land barren..I see an old mason jar by the doorway,
Wonder what it was used for.
Great Granddads Navy hat from World War 1
Memories last a lifetime, 3 American Flags sit on these shelves, all from men that loved and served our country, 1 a prisoner of war,1 that never came home, 1 that loved his country dearly till the day he died.
When I lay my hand on these old flags, there is a sadness but also a proud feeling that touches my soul.
My husbands grandfather was a Shriner for 76 years,he went to the same church all his life.LaMarrs father was a Shriner, so it was only natural that LaMarr would follow in their footsteps.
So I spent the day dusting the memories~

Snippets and Pieces of my heart~

My grandmother, and mother loved watches, over the years the style changed, the antique watches are delicate, the design exceptional, dainty comes to mine~
quaint little diamonds usually surrounded the watches.
I was unsure how to go about cutting the band on this old watch...I shut my eyes and and cut...added several vintage trinkets~ I used the antique key that opened our door to the old homestead, Many good memories in the key and the watch, What better way to repurpose these treasures, Now I can wear it instead of laying in a drawer out of sight~
Trinkets and treasures to create the pendant.
my supplies I sat out to create with...see my old watch band..I know I will wear the pendant..more so than the watch~~
The antique key was to our old 152 year homestead...it has some great memories...snippets and pieces of the heart~~
