Vintage Mesh Tea Pot~

Cold and raining today, looking forward to Spring, these cold dreary months are good for a few things,
Cleaning house,organizing,and creating~
The sweet mesh teapot I found in a "Thrift Store~, loved the vintage look and thought the roses would be a pretty "center piece" for my upstairs foyer sitting area~
I had passed up the teapot, saying to myse;f "You do not need another thing to sit around~ The more I thought about that old pot,I knew I had to have it.

It will be so pretty for a Spring Tea Party, sitting on a tea cart, with tea bags inside.

Gathering up a few old cards,my Victorian Trading Co. catalogs I sat and "Thought" what to create today~ Decided to create a few art tags for "gifts: and my vintage rag designs~.
"I actually scanned a old print for the dressmaker photo" on this card, creating a two sided card,I designed the card in paintshop, added them side by side on a 8.5x 11 sheet. The sheet should hold at least 2 full tags, Printed as many tags as I wanted to create~
I cut snippets from my old catalogs to use on this sweet little tag
Key To My Heart~

punched holes for the tattered ribbons, I used a vintage parchment paper inside for text, layered on a cute little key,a tiny silk rose, added crystal glitter, some tattered lace, I used craft Victorian scissors to trim the edges. Stamped the inside with a Paris stamp..just to give it a little Paris flair~

These beautiful boxed rose soaps are from Victorian Trading Co.
The soaps are wonderful, love the sweet rose box, I will keep it to store the beautiful rose scissors. another gift from my hubby~

the scissors are inlaid with roses, beautiful angels adorn the scissors. Scissors fit in a pretty case.

Roses, I am guilty of "Never" adding roses to a vase and water, I dry my roses, hanging them in a cool room to dry naturally,
Roses....

Tender Thoughts~

Browsing book stores is one of my passions, I can remember McKay books years ago when you had to sit in the floor, and the few books they had was on a 2x4 shelving
Today the bookstore is 3 stories high massive building, millons if books, I could spend hours there wandering the isles
Found the lovely book of "Tender Hearts"..I have a weakness for "children" Love vignettes and books all through my home

Altered Artwork

Altered art work
I started out with a insert from a Victorian Magazine, folded in half, set aside,
browsed my mag for sayings, fonts, pictures I would like to use, I cut the images that appealed to me, then gathered trims I could possibly use.
I folded the paper insert from magazine in half, laid out different designs on the card, till you get the look you want,a few buttons, a tattered piece of lace, you are now ready to create altered art,
Now you are ready to add elements to your card, using a small brush, brush mod podge on your card, layering each element.
Using a punch ..to make two holes for tattered binding and tie a knot. I also layered the back of card with images,
the inside is plain paper for text with a few bits of lace..
I hand stamped Paris and Fragile..dusted with crystal glitter..

Rose Lavender Milk Bath~

Working in my sewin/craft/studio, needed to organize my work area, I like having a nice neat place to work/create, next on my "list" to redo my fabric shelves,
Now for a little creative work, boring to clean, have to add a little fun in the mix.
Making a soothing bath bag, I just love to use tiny teacups, I have found the more you make your working area pretty the better you create~ smile~
Dried Rosebuds ...
gathered the rosebuds before Winter last year,
Lavender, dried milk, rose oil, and Epson salt, for a relaxing bath.
The bath bags I sewed from a soft cotton muslin weave fabric added jute string to close the top..leaving enough string to tie from faucet, Fill the bags with the Milk bath mixture, tie top add your card..
hand stamped the bags for a vintage look, added a vintage card for "gifting" my family and friends love these scented bags,
I hot glued a tea stained silk rose, a perfect "Gift" for a friend,

Lost Treasures...in the attic~

Cold Winter day, snowed this morning, quiet gentle flurries, then the sleet and rain, now it is just a wet cold day, LaMarr, made a bacon wrapped meatloaf- baking in the oven, home made sour dough bread in the bread maker.
Looking out my kitchen window, as I wash the dishes. watching the stray mama and her kitties enjoying some warm oatmeal I gave them.
Winter is such a harsh time here in the hollow, so many wild animals come down from the mountain to eat,
Wishing for Spring, but don't want to wish these precious days the Lord gave us away~ This week I have spent a few hours off and on in the attic, I had a old vintage chair stored in their, dug it out and had plans to cover the chair with crochet dollies, now that I have the chair out where I can really admire it, I don't think I will cover its beauty and age,
I remember the chair sitting in my granny's parlor, there was a rocking chair and a ottoman to match, over the years the rocking chair was given away to someone in the family, and the chair was moved to the attic after granny's death. I hand washed the chair with mild soap. It is really in good condition for its age..as we were talking about the chair someone commented it was over 70 years old. Granny took very good care of everything she owned. The chair has a soft nubby feel, I can imagine the ones that enjoyed it sitting by a fireplace, maybe reading a book..I am so glad I have "Things" that have history and memories. Very few people today hold on to Lost Treasures...in the attic~
