Vintage Pattern Dressmaker

I am so loving this project, these old vintage patterns can usually be found in resale shops fairly cheap, my favorite thrift store always has box crammed full for 5 cents each...I added 20 more patterns to my stash, can never have too many patterns, always a project in the works, as you can see I have been working on this project for a couple of days.
You can see the dressmaker taking shape, in my other post here in my blog.
I used 3 patterns layered on, 1 and 1/2 bottle of mod podge, and of course the dressmaker, thrift store find for $10.00
This vintage treasure will be a pretty display in my sewing room, for a project I am working on, for my lace collars, jewelry. Just something to give me a "Boost" to create from the heart~,
Perfect to display beading~~
~(BEFORE PHOTOS)...
This old lightweight plastic dressmaker I found at the resale shop for $10.00.
it is too lightweight to be usable, I tightened up the measurements added a huge bag of (clean) kitty litter to the bottom of the dressmaker for weight.. taped in real good..then taped the bottom closed..now it has some weight to it..no tipping over...
I started on the 1st. layer of adding the patterns, seems like I will need to actually add the outher pattern to the dressmaker to cover the grey, It is bleeding through the pattern. this ugly dressmaker will be covered in vintage patterns like the boot I decoupaged..
adding vintage trims, buttons..
It is not even finished yet and I am adding "trinkets" to it..
The dressmaker is shaping up nicely, so far I have used 3 vintage patterns, almost a bottle of hodge podge,
Very satisfied with the results,

Boots~decoupaged in Vintage Patterns

These boots sat in my closet for over 25 years, gathering dust, a (project went off in my head like a lightbulb) cover those old boots in all those old patterns you have gathering dust.
Hodge Podge, brush, patterns sheets, Lets go for it.
Ok, I will need to add layers for the vintage look.
Drying each layer after drying I will rubber stamp with some Paris stampimg
Oh I am loving this old boot..I may even wear these once again~~
OH LaLa...these are going to be so pretty with my dressmakers, laces and vintage trims.Oh Yea~
add a whisper of Vintage Trims in the top for displaying..
I really like the vintage look..will add a dry rub stain to age it a little more..OH and I will need to decoupage the other boot..and a old ugly dressmaker I have and a samsonite carry on...and more to come..peek a @2.00 find at the resale shoppe..

Thrift Store finds~

Thrift Store finds~found a few great items at the Samaritian Center
my all time favorite,resale shoppe
the scissor holder was a find at 35 cents.
a sweet saying with flowers..

I use old patterns for many of my projects, as a wrapping paper sending orders tied with jute string and a brown paper bag card (stamped), decoupaging items, now for my other great find, a box of vintage patterns for 5 cents each,
Love this old bicentennial pattern, with bonnet, plan to make my daughters a bonnet and apron from this pattern
On a resale trip you never know what you may find, that is why they are so exciting, when you close your fingers around that "treasure" of the heart..ONLY another Junkin" Junker" knows that feeling..a smile comes to your face, your heart flutters. and you are ready to go home and enjoy your "Find" I have several more finds to share, smile~later decoupaging a old pair of boots that ha sat in my closet for over 25 years...maybe I will even wear them..Love Vintage

Keeper of Memories~

In the Winter when it is cold and dreary outside, warm and comfortable in the home,is a wonderful time in one's life to "Preserve some memories~
Buttons have always been a great treasure to collect for me.
Many old dresses, blouses, hold such dear memories of mama, granny, things they wore, and you remember when you got a warm hug.
Nothing like a "hug" from mama or granny~
The old hunp back trunk holding Vintage linens, a place that holds "memories".
An old crochet piece is a prefect thing to sew treasured buttons onto.
These precious old buttons will not go into the button jar,
Delicate old buttons they do not make anymore..an old brown button from mama's coat
a vintage brooch,a tiny dolly, treasures of the past. we are the keeper of the past, we need to preserve every memory~
Another day for Preserving The Memories~ These old leather boots.watch to see what these old boots become.

Vintage Trims~

Vintage makes my heart flutter, out of style gowns and dresses of my hubbys granny, she was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years, they wore long gowns with lots of fancy trims, while going through grannys closet, I found many items that were out of date/style, But still had some gorgeous recycleable trims. I cut the actual cuffs off the gown, beautiful old pearl ball buttons adorn the cuffs
An example of the cuffs

These cuffs will be pretty as a cuff bracelet.
The rolled rose is off the shoulder of the gown, will be used on another project I have in mind.
Love the ball pearls, the cuff just need a liitle sewing at the cut edge, and will be so pretty, the pearl buttons have a sweet loop closure.
A treasure from grannys closet..her Vintage Mink Coat/cape.
Grannys Doll..
